I know what its like to have a vehicle stolen, so I can empathize with you there. But in this particular situation the person in question lacked all judgement to prevent his sandrail from being stolen. This is one reason why no one should go out riding alone, esp in a remote area. He also should have just stayed with his ride and waved someone down, it might have taken a half hour but he would still have his uninsured new sand rail.
Glamis *IS* a den of thieves,... anytime you go there its a HUGE risk to your property.
If this guy was a noob, then he didnt know better and my analogy wont apply because in that case he wasnt aware of the dangers. He would have figured his rail would be stuck in the spot he left it.
but all of us Dune veterans know better and if we pulled a move like that and our stuff got stolen then we have no one to blame but ourselves.
I am convinced there is a *constant* element at the dunes of people that are traversing the dunes for the sole purpose of finding a stranded vehicle, unattended vehicle or campsite.
Here is a question to ponder, with all the LEO presence out there how come we dont hear about them actually making arrests for stolen vehicles or property? Arent they out there to protect us or is their sole purpose to control us?
