California Rhinos

Is it a waste of time to look for a solution or is it impossible to make a Rhino street legal in California?

I know how to do it... It is a pain in the ass and it will cost you a big chunck of change but it is doable..... Probably about $1,500.00 and you are done. There is a guy that lives in my town that drives his Ranger around town and he has a Cali. Plate.

Supposedly this guys figured it out.
PRC Ranger Club, LLC :: View topic - Street Legal

But after speaking to him, I'm not so sure it's 100% legit.
I think it boils down to finding that right DMV person who will classify the Rhino as an electric golf cart. Because it won't work if it's registered as gas-powered because it's not in the CA smog database. If you look at the forms to fill out, you have to check the EPA regs the motor complies with. And the Rhino doesn't conform to EPa regs for a road vehicle, so you have to "lie" on the form...and the DMV has to overlook this.

Me and a buddy have been looking for a legit way for a few now and there isn't. Don't get me wrong you can do it but its like Blake said, you dont know what is going to happen when you get pulled over, because they will pull you over!!! The guy in Coronado is OK because he lives in "Coronado".

I thought it said he was in Chino? I am surprised if Coronado cops don't hassle him.
