Just Joined

Hi all,

New to the forum and I just wanted to say hi! I joined because I am trying to make an informed decision on purchasing a sise x side and I wanted some users opinions on their rides.

I am looking for a side X side for the family (the wife, myself and our 10 month old son). I ride a CR 500 and the wife rides a raptor 660 and now that we have junior we can no longer go on rides together so A sise x side would allow us to do that.

I would like to hear what people think about the Rhino's 660 vs 700?
Also Teryx vs Rhino?

I will be buying a used one and I will probably only do minor mods to it such as cdi, air filter, exhaust, Full body roll cage, rear seats and maybe shocks for the rear to handle weight of passengers.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.

Doug

1FAST06,

Thanks for the reply. Why the Teryx over the Rhino 700? I noticed your 660 has a few mods and that it is probably pretty fast and plush in the suspension dept. so your probably pretty happy with what you got.

Do you know if the Teryx or the Rhino 700 motors are reliable due to their relatively new debut.

I forgot to mention that I am looking to spend a max of 10K and thats with any mods that may need to be done.

Thanks.

Hi Karl,

I ride dunes and desert and probably wont be up at elevation to often. With the family I will be cruising but when Im on my own I will be pinned. I would like good suspension but I know the suspension kits are pretty expensive and I need this to fit in my toy hauler as well as on tight trails.

I work on my own vehicles with the exception of anything past the valves.

I have a 07 660 sport with minor mods. I ride it in the desert wide open. It has been used hard. I have had little issues with it like the park brake light switch coming loose. and one set of front ball joints from running 2 inch wheel spacers. I have replaced the belt in it, rear brake and oil thats about it. I have over 250hrs on it, most of whitch have been in the dirt.

Most of us pretty much do that with long travel suspension kits on... trust me when I say the diff between LT and stock suspension is like night and day... a must for the dunes and desert. The only draw back with LT is if the trails you ride on have 50" gate openings.... then forget it, otherwise you will be able to do the above mentioned.
Obviously were all partial to the Rhino... why.. we'll because it tried and true, although the Teryx has brought itself up to, and some may think beyond the Rhino.
Only really downfall of the teryx is, it's a pain in the ass to work on yourself... have to remove the cage to get the hood off... even worse to get to the engine compartment... just my opinion of course. But the engine is sweet with a 750cc v-twin... killer low end!
I would say look for a clean used LT rhino or teyrx with all the upgrades that your looking for... 4 seater cage, rear seat, etc.... otherwise you will be spending some coin my friend.

Welcome.

I vote for the Cat 1000, needs nothing but a cage and rear seat for your little one. no need for motor work at all, then you put the money into suspension and safety.

If just for the wife and little one then a stock RZR-S 800 EFi model
