Smile Burning Oil

Hello! I am new to this site. I have an 07 660 and it has just started burning oil. I have to add about a 1/4 of a pint every time I ride for about 30 or 40 miles. the light came on and we let it cool down and went on back to camp. It was after that we found it was burning oil. Any Ideas what the problem could be.

You will get other members replies soon so give it a day or two. I am not sure I have enough info, is your exhaust blue? could it be your rings?

no my air filter has been rerouted to under the drivers seat and it has a plasitc cover over it. I takes in a lot more air. I have cleaned it a couple of times since this started happening. The filter is one of those pleated filters instead of the original foam filter.

i didn't do it I had it done for a machanic friend do it. However everything is under the center console except the filter, I had this done last year and it just started burning oil about a week ago. It got hot on a long ride and the light came on. I let it cool off. then went on home. The air filter was really dirty so we cleaned it. That was when we found that we were about 1/4 of a quart low. I don't know if it got hot because of the low oil or the dirty air filter.

you prob have a scored cylinder wall now. as long as it is still running, the repair is pretty reasonable and might as well go to a 686.

call Benchmark performance 760-488-0986 for a 686 cyl bore, piston and DLC pin upgrade.

Rog sent ya
