Just blew up my 7.3

This sucks I decided to make a last minute trip to Flagstaff today and I hooked Ol Towmater(99 ford crew 7.3) up to my 40' warrior and right around New River she let out some smoke and I new something bad just happened.
so I pulled over and my pcv by pass was really puking smoke and oil and I pulled the oil fill cap and shes a huffing bad. I limped it back home and it barely made it smokin like a freight train and I think I smoked the turbo doing it since it made some god awful noise and would not build any boost, Towmater has been a great truck he has been hooked up to big ass trailers his whole life all it does is tow. Only 350k+ miles one stock tranny and now on number 2 bad ass Bd diesel tranny with tripple disc converter. 2 turbos I blew a turbo by being an ass with a big programmer once. He also has the big Inj too and a few other goodies.
Time for a new heart for Towmater.

2nd place is the first loser!!

my 99 7.3 is still plugging away like a f'n champ! I choose to keep it stock all thw ay around...I am not trying to win any fashion shows or drag races. It pulls anythign I put behind it. I have a 150,000 miles on it and still on the OG tranny!

350k miles of pure towing and towing big shit. Its been a great rig so now its time for a quadruple bypass and ol Towmater will be workin again. I had just told the wife on the way out of the driveway that I thought its last days were near very near been smokin more than normal for a bit now. Oh well got my moneys worth out of it. Stab a new block in and get rollin. I just spent 5g 2mos ago on new Bd trans and rear end and drive shaft so with a new motor it will be all new again.

That sucks man... but the 7.3 is a work horse... sounds like you definitely got what you could outta that one. Hope the next one works out just as well. I love mine. I got injectors, late model year HPOP and some custom tunes for a little more go. I am still not really sold on the 6.0/6.4, and only time will tell on the new 6.7...

Have you considered a Cummins swap? Would be sick to have a dialed up old 12v motor under the hood... or leave it more or less stock. Now would be the time...

Funny you said the cummins swap I was laying in bed last night thinking about that. wonder how involved and hard that would be.

With the right stuff I don't think it would be too bad, I know there are places that make the adapter plates and motor mounts...

Where do you live? I have been a member at www.socaps.com for some time and they may have some ideas near you...
