Idea to help support the forum

The Admin has been discussing ways to help support the cost of forum maintenance, decals and more TShirts. As most of you know there are no site vendors here that are charged for their advertisements.

I had an idea that I wanted to share with everyone and take a vote to see if you guys think it would be a good idea or not.... This is how I came up with the idea.

I have lots of Rhino parts that I dont use. I dont like to post some of the smaller dollar items for sale because to be honest I really dont need the money. I dont post them for free because well to be honest I dont want to hassle shipping stuff to a new guy on the east coast that I dont even know. If one of my friends or a fellow member needs something that I have most of the time I will just give it to them. I have posted stuff for sale in the past and then when a friend or good standing fellow member shows interest I have just gave the parts to them for free. Well a few weeks ago I listed an extra set of rear LSR axles that I had. Mush sent me a PM and asked me what I wanted for them. I responded and told him how does a $50.00 donation to his "ride for autism" sound and I would pay for the shipping? He said that was great. Then he actually made a donation of $130.00 in my name. I thought it was great. He got some new axles. I was able to help out a fellow member. I didnt need the money but it went to a good cause.

It got me to thinking....

What if we started a Pay Pal account in the name of Rhinotalk.net. Then if a member chose to sale some of their small items they have laying around they could choose to have the money sent to the Rhinotalk.net pay pal account and donate the money to the site. This money could be used to help with the site maintenance, free decals, free T Shirts and other site related expenses.

I think there would be less price haggling and people would not mind paying for items if it helped support the site. We could even make a seperate for sale section to where all items listed in that category the proceeds go to the Rhinotalk account. I know for me I have lots of low dollar stuff laying around that I would love to sale and I will even pay the shipping and then have the payment sent to the Rhinotalk account. I understand that nobody is going to sale their LT Kit or $800 wheels and donate it to the account. It may not work for everyone. I was just thinking about the small stuff or whatever you can afford to donate.

What do the rest of you guys think? Please Vote and add any comments.

Thanks guys.

i think it's a good idea, and if we do it right and theres left over money, we can have a sponsered RT event in the dunes or where ever everyone voted??
It will probably need to be monitored by who?, and restrictions of only members with x amount post minimum can purchase unless approved by a mod?

oh yeah and Mike is the bomb. lol!!! no really that was pretty damn cool in my book.

Thanks Mush....

I agree. There is lots of stuff that we could do with the money. There would be a few details to work out but I figured we could all talk about those if everyone thought it was a good idea.

IMO the account would be an open book for everyone to see. We would also all vote as to what to spend the money on.....

Sound fair to me, I think giving the money to a charity or other good cause would be even better. Let's face it, None of us really worry that much about the $$ anyway! Charity of the month type thing

"I hope the porn channel in my room is disabled."

"No," she said, "it's just regular porn, you sick bastard."

Great idea!! Also what about having some type of raffles at some rides also? I dont know how much money we are talking about for maintaining the site? If I know a donation of a few dollars here and their to keep things going. Thats all good. I think we should raffle off a long travel kit of some type, who does not like or want long travel. fifty dollar tickets, sell 200 of them and bam I win new long travel It only cost me ten thousand dollars right....

I'm sure I got some stuff that could be donated....... Anything to keep us up to speed. I have no idea what the expense to keep us up and running but I know NOTHING in life is free. I'm game......I've got an pro circuit slip on exhaust I have been considering selling....But Like mike....I hate messin with shipping....Here is another Idea....Set up a E-bay account RT.NET...someone can manage the listings and the cash can go to RT.NET's paypal.
