First time changing oil and filter in my duramax for me, any diesel at that... is there anything special about it, or same ole routine?

Lots of paper towels!

I'll never do it again! They put the oil filter in sideways and I got oil all over the skid plate!

LOL. I've never changed a Duramax. That sucks about the filter being sideways. My wifes car (lincoln ls) is that way and that shit splatters everywhere. I'm just glad it's low to the ground.

The Powerstroke's have cartridges that you access from the top of the engine.

I'll tell you how to do it ..Drop it off at the dealer ...Jump in the courtesy van and have him drop you off at cabella's and pick you up when the truck is done ..thats how I roll......Seriously if your gonna do it youself do the Amsoil thing lasts like 25K with the right filters...
