anyone ever clean their generator carb?

this week iv'e been preparing for the barstow toys for tots poker run and i started up my onan generator only to get the worst idle i've heard in a long time. anyhow i figured the carbs probably dirty so i go to the local rv place and he tells me," it's a sealed carb so you can't pull it apart. just like a dirtbike."
i've pulled dirtbike carbs apart so what the hell does that mean?
generator is the micro quiet 4000

huh? ive never seen a dirtbike carb that you couldnt at least take the bowl off of.... just pull the bowl and spray carb cleaner through all of the jets. Or you can buy it by the gallon and let it soak overnight... either way works great

I have the 5500 and had the same issue, I took my carb all the way apart cleaned out the jets and the body then it worked great. Take it apart and use a piece of wire to clean out the jets sometimes the carb cleaner wont work if it's too thick.

I just serviced my Onan 4000 about a month or so ago. Changed oil and filter. Best way to keep it from f'n up is to run it for about 10-20minutes at least once a month while your not using it. Never had to mess with the carb yet...

i've got the onan 4000 too. mine did the exact same thing. i just took the carb apart, cleaned it with carb cleaner, blew some compressed air through the jets, now it runs like a top.
