Chatter Box!

Me and my friends want to get Race Radio's this season, but it's looking like it's going to cost us about a 1,000 each. So what do you guys think about using Chatter boxes? It's looks like will do eveything a race radio can do. What would I be missing? I'm looking at the GMRS-x1-Bluetooth on Ebay for around $280. ChatterBox

The race radios are nice but way too expensive. How exactly does that Chatter box work ? do you need satelite reception for it to work ?

No they are just like those hand-held two way radios, except they mount to your helmet.

I have them for the harleys and they do work good (gmrs)

You can put the speaker/mic into a cheap set of headphones/sound attentuators from harbor freight, just need to mount the Boom on them also

Why do you say 1000 dollars BTW.

Also, these will only talk to other GMRS Chatterboxes and very few handhelds

Another route is to get an refurbished ICOM f3s 32 ch vhf from Tom at reddogradios.com for about 129 and then get a headset and PTT cable from Greg at ruggedraceradios for about 130-140. (H41 type)

I have two of these setups and they work very well.

You can tell Tom to program them like Roger from Ramona, and then you can talk to anyone in our group and others.
