Exclamation **Cheap Intercom and Radio setup**

Ok I am trying to come out with a cheaper intercom and radio set up then most of the other brands out there.
Has anyone done this? Any impute or advice??

This is what I have found out so far.

Intercoms

I have come to find out that I think I like an ENRI active system better then the VOX system. The ENRI system is always on and has no delays or brings the radio down so you can talk. You can still play music but it is just back ground music so you would set that quieter then your talking level.

I have been looking at the ATC-402p. It is a panel mount and needs to be wired but the instructions do not look that bad or hard to do. This intercom is around $200-240. You can also get it pre wired for a little bit more.

Or if you do like the VOX system I have found a cheap set up as well. Softcomm has this -When you get the intercom you want to request a high noise mod which adds $15 to the price. Panel mount intercom with high noise is 169.00; for 4 place mono 179.00 for 4 place stereo.

Radios

Now I am just trying to find a radio system that works well. I have found a Yaesu FT-2800M 65w that I can get for $120. Or a Icom IC-2200H for $150. A far as the adaptor connectors from your intercom? I would guess they would be cheap if you made them your self. Or you can do a handheld aswell.

Headsets

There are so many different ones out there I was told for the best cheap set are the C-40S headsets would be 89.00.
But again I don’t know the differences between the head sets. Maybe some one can chime in on them.

Accessories
Antennas go for another $25-40 or so. Push to talk buttons $25 each. Cables extensions $? Headset muffs –couple bucks.

But I am guessing you can do a complete car to car and pass to pass for around $600-700. Why pay more if you can piece it together your self?

What do you guys think?

Does anyone have any aviation background that can help us all out and piece together a set up that we can all afford?

Not that you can afford. David Clark is about the best out there... but you'd be better off buying a race radio set. LOL

search "two way radio"
Mosslager started that thread and Rog answered in it. That's the most recent discussion that I recall...
