Race Radio Problems

Ok.....So my hand held just came in that I plan on leaving in the RV and my shit dont seem to work.....I'm sure its something simple.

1. When I push to talk all I can hear is the mic key up on the handheld. It is very faint if you can hear me thru it.

2. In the rhino I can hear loud and clear whats being said from the handheld....but Its not coming thru the head sets its coming thro the radio itself.

Do I have the settings in my rhino wrong? the radio is the Vertex 2100/2200. Also on the handheld i noticed when i screwed the antenna on it wasnt right. The nut is spinning inside the plastic. Can the antenna be damaged?

I havent called greg from rugged yet. I though some of you ninjas could help.

you mean the handheld transmits OK, but you cannot hear it in the headset in the Car radio????

Or you cannot hear yourself talk when keying the radio? ( that part is normal, no "sidetone")

I cant hear what is coming thru from the handheld in my headsets. It comes thru the radio but not the headsets.

Then the handheld cant hear anything I say. You hear the mic key up...but thats it. I'm sure its just a settin on both but I havent found my instructions on my in car radio and I didnt get any with the handheld. I need to call Greg I guess

Some reason your radio, does not know the headsets are plugged in, or the speaker should not work, make sense? recheck where you plugged them in.

Ok....So if the headsets are pluged in the radio should not work? I was tryin all this from the passenger push to talk and headset. Maybe I need to plug in the drivers headset and try it from there

Yeh, try that, I do not believe the speaker should work if the headsets are plugged in. Not 100% though

I call Bullshit to the antenna part, I have repaired several radios in the Navy and maybe two antennas were ever bad, unless you crushed it under your truck or something! LOL

Well the little metal nut that is molded in is stripped inside the plastic.....and when I tried to take it part I twisted it a half dozen times before I relized. I'm sure there is something inside there i could have damaged
