They have a small xm to go unit that is like a regular little radio, plug it in like an Ipod. Here's a sirius version SIRIUS - Stratus 5 Dock & Play Radio with Complete Vehicle Kit - SV5TK1

Hapa- ''When I checked into my motel, I said to the lady at the desk:

"I hope the porn channel in my room is disabled."

"No," she said, "it's just regular porn, you sick bastard."

Our customers use the XM portable and plug it into our jack just like an iPod then control the volume with the inlie volume knob. Easy, and your not limited to just 1 player. anything with a headphone jack will work.

Great thread! Great question and good answers so far. here is my chime in on this subject.

Radio with headset with ipod/xm radio capability

volume control on dash, with auto mute while the passengers are talking

I would also like to like my system to hit! Sometimes I don't feel like running the headsets, I don't just mean i want the system to hit, i want it to change peoples fucking mirrors! So I would need a speaker set up,

So that brings me to this, Sandchris runs 800watts or so in his speaker box in the bed of his Prowler, i like that idea because it helps to even out the weight of the Utv, makes it fly right when busting air. don't have to put a fuel cell back there.

What are you guys running? I know we had a few cars running XM radio last time on the same channel, that was cool with the cars spread out and the same music all around us at the hill,

Whats the best of all worlds that wont cost thousands of dollars?

The portable radios all have an 1/8" output jack so they will plug in like an Ipod. I have used the built in models, but the lack of portability is a pain, and I am now on my second portable unit which is the MyFi. Out of all of the xm radios I have owned my best suggestion is buy a cheap unit, especially if your running it in your rhino. They all seem to be plauged with the same awful thumb wheel that is critical to changing channels and menues, which has broken on my last two radios. So far the cheaper units do not sound any different than a more expensive one, the only thing you gain by spending more on it is the ability to record programming that will allow you to rewind live content much like the DVR on a cable box. If I had to reccomend a particular radio, try and find a Rodie2 (if you check XM Satellite Radio - America's #1 Satellite Radio Service you can often find them for 10 bucks) or possibly a RodieXT as both are cheap and do a decent job.

This is our kit SSV WORKS - SC-AUX4313
$59 less the 10% RT discount...

Like he said, you can plug in any portable device. We use a sirius Stelleto but the XM pieces are the same concept.

Hapa,
absolutely. We could wire up a source switcher to 'divert the sound to the amplifier or the comm with flip of a switch.
Earthshaking bass is doable, but it requires power and that requires batteries. Maybe a small trailer with a genny you could tow behind the Prowler. the 1000cc should still be penty fast
