Charging

I installed a Volt Meter to see the voltage drop when all my 6 lights are on. I was surprised to see the alternator can't keep up with the demand. It shows under 12 volts even when revving it up. So I installed 2 separate light switches, and use them only when I need them. If I add a GPS, or Radio with speakers, that would really kill it. Is there any way to upgrade the charging system?
