Broken axel removal tips

Just bought a 06' 660 with 6" long travel, first trip out the left rear axel broke right at the inner CV.

There is nothing to hold onto to pull it out, so how do I get the CV and rest of the axel out? Also any tips removing the little stub of an axel that is left in the CV so I can install a new one?

You could weld a welding rod to it and pull it out with that. It does not take much to yank it out. If you don't have a welder or want to risk the process around seals, oil, etc. then if you take the other side axle out then just use a long shaft like a 3/8 extension to drive it out from the other side. Should just take a light hammer tap.
