PICS INSERTED...Moved intake point under hood...

Here are some pics of my latest project. The dates are wrong on those pics, I just took them this morning...

I took ideas from a few people on here and combined them. I used a 7' 2.5 inch shop vac tube for the flexible tubing. 19.99 @ Home Depot. The angle under the hood, I used a rubber 90 degree piece from Home depot also, I think it was $4. In the engine compartment, I attached the vacuum hose to the stock intake tube, not the air box. I know some have posted pics of connecting to the airbox, but it did not match up for me. I have an 06 660. I think the photo's on that RC site describing this mod are from a 450. I do have a Moose center console and this still worked perfectly. I just took out the center console and the center floor board cover and everything went in very smooth.

Seems to be much quiter in the cab, but overall, I would guess the volume is the same, because I just seem to notice the exhaust noise more now. I could be just excited, but the throttle seems to be more responsive, maybe from the cold air it is now breathing. I have had no performance issues yet, but I do intend on re-jetting. I am stock at about 3k feet now. I plan on doing a DJ 165/45 setup very shortly.

Overall price was about $23 so far.

I took it out for a 2 hour trail ride tonight and went from 3k-about 5.5k in altitude. No issues at all. It is definetely quieter and the throttle response seems better/crisper. I am thinking it is because it is getting cold air from behind the grill and not hot air right above the engine.

I also thought that I could turn the intake tube around to face the rear if I was in really dusty conditions or if there were a bunch of vehicles in front of me kicking up dust. This would be so the intake would not suck up as much dust. It would be as simple as loosening the clamp that holds the 90 degree bend piece on there, turning it 180 degree's and re tightening...
