Alternate insurance company

After Fivers mishap, I wanted to bring up a discussion with you guys. i recently had our toyhauler totalled out due to a mishap and it was run through my insurance who is American Family for 14 years. I was told by the RV company to never insure your toys with all your other property due to things like this. I checked with a friend who is an underwriter and told me it is not a bad idea, however like credit there is an insurance type credit that is checked yearly for any claims paid out. I left my insurance with Am Fam but am really considering another company for the Rhino, any thoughts...

I'm with Farmers and my toys are underwritten by a separate company, but through Farmers. All on separate policies as opposed to being covered under the homeowners policy. And yes, the insurance industries uses a "credit" rating very similar to the banking industry. My agent even goes so far as recommending that you only file 1 windshield claim every two years to keep your score up

I have my vehicles on one policy and my home on another. I have never insured my rhino because I have never found a reasonable rate on it......I will not pay a 1K plus per year on it. Not to mention noone want to insure it for what you have in it...They want to insure it to NADA book. And if thats the case its not even worth insuring.

Jim, I only pay 38 bucks a month with a 5k rider on top of "market value".
When I say seperate policy I dont mean than your house or whatever, I mean a completely diferent company so your insurance company for everything else wont frown on you if something goes wrong or use it against you at least until your yearly "check up" goes through. I'll tell ya about the hauler another time KJ

The best I found was like 650 a year....But that was only based off NADA book or "market value".....But if you look up Nada book on an 06 rhino its going to be around 6K. I asked to insure it for more and everyone tells me " We dont do that" Maybe I'm not asking the right question?????

Jim you can also insure it for "stated value" or basing your rates on a 15k or whatever replacement value. this is usually more expensive though

Geico runs me 20 bucks a month for 12k of coverage. California is a bunch higher for Rhinos though-I have no idea why

Hapa- ''When I checked into my motel, I said to the lady at the desk:

"I hope the porn channel in my room is disabled."

"No," she said, "it's just regular porn, you sick bastard."
