Cbr900rr

I figure ill bring this over here and just talk about it here instead. I picked up a 99 CBR900RR engine this morning and am going to look into MAYBE putting it into the rhino. I am wondering what you Street bike guys have done as far as computer? and fuel pump and stuff. Being as though this is from a 99 i dont think its even got a brain? Just needs power?!

Sorry i dont know much about this engine and i guess i need to find a site with some info!

Well, your 900RR engine is carbureted, so you need a low pressure fuel pump or a gravity feed system. You should be able to wire up the stock ignition pretty easily. Did you have any specific questions?
Are you going to use a gearbox with reverse? Or just standard chain drive?
Sounds like fun, cut that thing up!

I think i want to go with the gear box. I am wondering if since this thing has carbs if it even needs a ecu? i should just have to power up the ignition and power for the starter etc... right?

You will not use a ECU. Only FI motors use a ECU.

The ECU - Electronic Control Unit or ECM - Electronic Control Module, also know as the automobile's 'Fuel Computer,' 'Brain Box,' 'Engine Control Module' or 'Engine Control Unit' is an electronic computer that regulates the amount of fuel that your vehicle's injectors release into the intake manifold.

I don't want to steer you away from this site but register on a CBR forum and spend some time asking some dumb question and get some good info out of it. That's what I did. I didn't know crap about the R1 motor. I joined a r1-forum and found a lot of good info from it. Plus they had a link to the full user repair manual on a PDF.
I found this site for you. I didn't spend much time on it but they should have catagories for bikes with only your year in it and it has a ton of members on it.

Good luck
