Splitting up the crank

Hi has anyone ever replaced the conrod ,and if so, does the crankshaft have to be rebalanced?

Unless you have all the stuff, you need to send it to a place that splits the crank in order to change the rod, and balance with new rod and bearing

problem is I cant send it over from Germany,Ive got a shop who can do it,but some mech.say not nessesary to balance the other ones say it is nessesary to balance.

If you are putting on a Stock replacement Yamaha rod then you will be OK without balancing, if you put on a stronger aftermarket Rod ( falicon or Carillo) then you need to balance due to the weight change in the rod.
