its fine to run lighter oil, just make sure its 4 stroke motorcycle oil and not automotive oil.
So its not a good idea to run down to the local napa store and get some regular engine oil? I have heard that these rhinos have a wet type clutch and the "Energy Conserving additive" will harm the clutch, is this why.
wet clutches are not compatible with some full synthetic oils, so i would use a 4stroke semi-synthetic motorcylce oil. that way you wont have to worry about the wet clutch slipping
as far as automotive oil, its not good to use them because they have different lubricating properties than motorcylce oils. motorcycle oils are engineered for engines that rev at much higher rpm's.
sounds good thanks for the info, can ya recomend a brand of oil to use in my rhino. I dont wanna go to my yamaha dealer, they wont have the light stuff and if they do its yamaha brand and its going to be expensive.
I haven't changed the oil in my rhino yet but I didi change it in my 700 yamah a atv. The quad sat for 6 hours in -17 degree celcius last week and would not start, it would turn over but not fast enough to start the engine. I believe a lighter oil would make a big difference.
