Rhino wont change gears!

Hi I,m new to this site so I hope I'm posting in the correct place, but anyway here it goes. I have a 2005 rhino 660 and for some reason I cant change gears while its running but if I shut the engine down it will change just fine. Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated

two things your idle may be too high and there is a link that loosens over time you can follow the shifter to the tranny and look for the turnbuckle loosen or tighten till it works right.

Thanks guys I'll try and see if it works. By the way I had to clean some mud out of the belt drive yesterday so I completely disasemble the outer drive and cleaned it and regreased it. I then reinstalled it and tightened the outer nut back to the original 60# of torque I wouldnt think it would have anything to do with the shifting though or does it?

no, if it is wrong it would still go into gear, just not take off or upshift properly.

try to shift it, with motor off, then start to see if it is in the gear your selected.

it will start in any gear, with foot on brake.

I adjusted the idle as suggested and it seems to have fixed the problem. I never dreamed just because the idles a little high it would stop it from going in gear. Thanks so much for ya'lls help.

the reason it does this, is due to the one way bearing and wet clutch engaging and moving the secondary clutch so it will not go into gear when the secondary is moving. FYI
