Does anyone know if there is any way to unlock the rear differential and make it "turf friendly"? I love my Rhino but it's tearing the crap out of the yard.
I'm in the same boat. Seems no one has even attempted this so there's absolutely no information out there about it. Someone in another forum said something about trying to put a front differential in the rear which would give you the same setup as the front being open or locked. I don't really think there's anything you can really do, I've never even seen a limited slip differential or an open differential for the rhino on the market at all.
It does suck not having the ability to select open or locked for the rear axle. Its also very unfriendly on the tires when your using as a street machine too.
On a forum I just ran across another person looking at this problem, and there's a whole bunch of ideas but again no one has tried them so we are still stuck with a locked differential. I personally would love to play around with the idea but I don't have the money to be buying parts or I'd have started this project a year ago.
Most people are saying a front differential from a wrecked machine, or such to replace the rear differential, but a lot of questions arise to if it would hold up, etc. Until someone with a lot of money decides to do a little bit of trickery I'm not seeing a possibility of having an unlocked rear diff.
