Transmission issues??

Hello everyone!

I just picked up a 08 rhino 700. It has some issues but I have slowly worked most of them out but came across a big issue and have no idea whats going on.

I can start the motor in Nutrual and it idols just fine, revs good, sounds healthy. As soon as you put it into whatever gear it grinds and shuts the motor down immediately.

PLEASE HELP!!!! I bought this for my father for our lease and afraid I got screwed.

sounds like the wet clutch or middle drive gear support or through shaft on 700's is possible also.

pull the clutch cover, and pull the primary off ( the rear one) then the inner clutch cover, this is where the wet clutch is. it has a one way bearing and what looks like drum brake shoes inside.

none of this should move at idle though.

for the middle drive gear support, you will need to take the mounting bolts out of the front diff and pull forward and let set down, then pull drive shaft out of front of motor, then remove cover at u-joint to inspect. take not of the shims as you remove the cover.

if your mechanically inclined these are pretty easy to check.

thanks for the heads up...

Its not the wet clutch, I just replaced the complete assembly regarding that.

I was unsure about the middle drive bearing and how to check it, so thanks alot for telling me how to check it.
