build engine for turbo.....

I got 3k harrd(mostly) sand miles on my 06 660 it has blowby appropreate for these factors. I was going to rebore the cyl and deal with the weak connecting rod and diff support add a cam and 10.5:1 piston but......... I had a change of plans when I ran across a deal on a used turbo kit.so now it's gonna get a lower comp piston and a radiator upgrade. what else should I be looking at upgrading for the added pressure/heat?

Did they tell you why they were selling the turbo kit? theyve been known as bad news no matter how well the rhino motors are built... JMO

Well I dont want to come off sounding negative, but thats going to be hard. That turbo will blow that motor apart real quick it will be nothing but head aches. I know of some very talented individuals who thought they could make it work and they tried every thing with no success. So if you are patient and like to wrench alot and spend alot of time and money on it go for it and please start a progress thread with pics and updates and you will have a great audience. So good luck with that one. Lets get it started.

2nd place is the first loser!!

Were a whole lot faster than you think you are.

I have been misled! I thought this was an engine build for Turbo!

TOAST NO MORE

Longest downtime record has been set!

I really would add fuel injection if your going to turbo it, seems fuel delivery with the carb, is the hardest to get to work as they should.

I would much rather put money into a high performance 686 (or bigger maybe) and clutch tuning and eliminate a big headache.

you can easily get over 50 hp to the wheels without any boost, with good parts and tuning.

Ok I understand I probably should have taken a difrent approach but I like the idea of gaining power while making the rhino quieter. If it's comperable to a moderately built N/A engine I'm fine with that . as long as I don't have to fix it on the trail and hold up the group.
The system I have coming is a blow through setup and I expect tuning/drivabilaty issues with a carb. If funding will permit I will get EFI for the tunability and ignition mapping but i gotta get the combustion chamber sealed and compression set appropreatly plus address the conecting rod-n- middle drive gear failures .before boost is applied.

what is unclear is..... what fails on turbo rhinos??and what have people done to prevent the failures?

hes right, rog's car hauls ass with a 686 that runs at 190 degrees on a long hot ride, he can line up to almost any utv in glamis and race competively, some builders 686 can run fast and reliable for many many miles, a turbo is a PITA IMO, its not dialed in yet.... if you wanna spend the $$$$ to be the guinea pig then have at it , but i wasnt interested it the headaches involved...

dont buy my video. it sucks anyway!!!!

I would really tell you to take these guys advice. They know what they are talking about. Ditch the Turbo idea and just build the motor.

Since I've asked the same question repeatedly I can only guess that you guys just know there is trouble with turbos and nothing more or it's Top secret itel unavailable to civilians?..... thanks for the replies.
I suppose I'll move onto other forums and see if my question can be answard.
