You shouldnt have any end play. If it wont move pull it apart and check everything out. Could be just a bad 1 way bearing. Also with everyone using dry clutches you may find parts cheap. I have a stock sheeve if you need it.

Yes you need to drain the oil, and more will come out with the inner clutch removed also, so be ready.

the primary should freely move in one direction only (CCW) and move the motor (CW) direction. if not, like Jim says, the one way bearing may be bad.

Peeps have good luck with Bronco Clutches, but the support for the PDM is alot stronger, neither are cheap by any means. if you run the dry clutch, take all of that plastic belt housing crap off.

Yes drain the oil.

My opinion for what its worth.

I have been talked out of a dry cluch more than once. I have also ran a dry cluch. If I were to do a dry cluch again it would be a bronco. The PDM is redicliously loud...ask ROG. I was told unless I was making monster power or racing dont bother. When I had my PDM I would say the launch was harder, It got sideways in corners better But other than that it was the same. I guess I wasnt making enough power for it to matter. I say save your money and fix what you have. My 2 Cents

Jim, did you have the 3 puck PDM clutch? That is the same clutch Bronco uses so neither should have been any louder than the other. The PDM 4 arm clutch makes less noise, but at the moment PDM is no longer selling clutches. That may change though not sure.

I'm having the same prob right I took off for a ride and 40 miles into I lost my clutch. Come to find out the nut came off and smoked all the plastic piece and spun the splines on both pieces on the primary shaft. The shaft seems to be ok it doesn't have any play.

Anyone know where I can find a parts brake down of the clutch, so I know what to buy. 06 660 thanks

Jim had the race version, I sold it to him. I went thru 6 belts with the sport version and then traded it to the race, then sold it to him when I did the rotax. The one ride I had with the race version was good, great performance, just sounded like a jar full of marbels when driving it.
I would agree with jim and just repair what you got, unless your racing or making huge power, there just isn't enough of a difference to justify the $$$$$ and headaches.
