Which CDI is better for a Hi Comp

I have two CDI boxes does anyone know which one would be better for a hi comp motor 11:1.I have a mpi dynatech or the dragonfire . are they made by the same maker or is dragonfire a procom? I guess i need to use whitch everone has the least amount of total advance?

dragonfire does not make a cdi,,, pretty sure its a dyna with a dragonfire sticker.

i would go with the hunterworks tri-fire.

I assume on pump gas? I personally wouldn't run any advance on a 11:1 motor. At the very least I would run a +2 deg advance box, like the Huntersorks tri fire. I think there are some Moose rebranded dynatechs that are +2.

I'm going to run a dynatech programmable with stock timing on my 11:1 motor in a desert racer for relibilities sake.

I'm sorry I don't know what advance the Mpi or dragonfire Cdis are for sure..

I'm going to assume that you are talking about a 660. Pretty much all of the aftermarket performance CDI's have timing curves that add 4 degrees to the advance. They may differ slighty in the actual map, but the end result is 4 degrees above stock. If you want to go with less advance, your options are a programmable like dynatek, or someone that custom set their advance curve like the Mountain Performance CDI. Problem with the MP CDI is that their curve is built for their supercharger and is mapped to be retarded compared to stock.

The programmable Dynatek is a good choice, pricier than what it sounds like you have, but it's flexible to match your needs. You'll also need to buy the programmers kit.

Call Chris Hawks at Benchmark Performance, 760-484-0986. He builds bad ass 486 motors, and uses the programmable CDIs on a regular basis. Tell him Black Rhino sent you over

You can also go with a programmable MSD. Comes with a CD. All you need is a laptop to program it.
