Stock header welds........

How many have grinded the welds smooth inside the stock header and can you tell a difference??? Anyone end up cracking one out after grinding the welds??

I did mine just be careful not to grind all of the weld off .Because its what holds the flange to the header.I cant really tell if it made a differance because i had my head ported at the same time.

ive done several of them and the results are pretty impressive imo. you do need to upgrade the intake, remove spark arrestor, and rejet your carb for a noticeable difference though.

I ground mine completely smooth and then you weld the outside on the back where the plate sucks up against. I did this, a slip on, intake, and dyno-jet jet kit and it made a big diff.

I ground mine smooth and just put it back on - Guess I should of asked first.

Hope it doesnt crack out this weekend - I dont have time to pull it back off.

I 'm running a UNI, RAIS Tube, EBAY exhaust tip, stock carb, washer swap on the needle with 155mj 45 pilot 2 turns out on the a/f. What do ya think?? should I bump up the main??

header should be fine... jetting might be a tad bit lean, did you get a look at your spark plug after running it?

Havent ran it with the welds grinded smooth yet - I was running the 152 1/2 just bumped it up to a 155 a few rides back - prob should throw in a 157 1/2 and check it.

I would suggest doing your intake rejet blah blah blah. Get use to it. Then if you really think it is going to do something for you grind your welds and tell me if you feel a difference. You have a better chance of eventually cracking the pipe than feeling a difference IMO
