PDM vs Sheave HELP!

I had a machined sheave before and liked it. When I did the 686 I switched to the PDM race clutch. The stall and the high rpm dont bother except in camp when its rev'd out and I feel like I'm not going anywhere. The other things that bugs me is when my wife drives it she just likes to cruise. The PDM doesnt really work to well for that.

Here's my question...if I went back to the machined sheave would I regret it? My rhino gets used primarily in hard packed desert. I take it to Glamis but its used little.

I would love to hear what you guys have to say. Thanks!

How much power are you making?

I think there are some people that have a much better grasp on how to tune the stock wetclutch/sheave to work with the higher horsepower motors now days, compared to when you first got your race clutch.

I think you can make it work, and there are alot of people looking for the PDM clutches right now, since PDM isnt selling them right now, so you should be able to recoup alot of the cost.

Trav... what was the spring/weight combo you had on your machined sheeve before the PDM?

If you haven't tried the orange spring/ 14 gram wieghts (that what weight I use, may be different for you) then I would hold on to the PDM, reinstall the sheeve with this spring/weight combo and see how you like it. I'll tell you what, this made a huge diff for me! If you likey... chuck that PDM and make some coin on it like Mr. Earp said.

I'm not sure. It is the standard UTV Crap machined sheave w/ duners kit.

Not sure the weight of the rollers but I know the secondary spring was purple.

the PDM is a much better clutch than any sheave imo. the only drawback is how noisy it can be.

if you dont like how its performing, then it sounds like the clutch needs to be tuned.

By tunning the PDM... will that take the high rpm's and stall out of it... that would bug the shit out of me too?

I'm going to guess Travis' next question will be "how do you tune this thing?" lol Help a ninja out...

For performance, the pdm is better, for cruising, the sheave is better.
IS your clutch a 3 or 4 puck?

i dont think the race clutch uses pucks, but uses cam arms instead which can be changed out for low speed engagement.
