Black Rhino CDI questions

I bought it off eBay and just got it in the mail today, didn't realized it was a BRP CDI until I got it home. Just read in a previous thread that BRP had some issues with old CDIs and I'm sure this one is an older model CDI, probably somewhere around 2006 model.

I'm wanting to know if I need to do any modifications to the carburator or any other components in the engine?

that's exactly what I got. I paid $22.

I installed it in about 5 minutes, took the Rhino for a spin and went from 38mph to 45mph, I would guess that the throttle response is is 30% better than OEM CDI.

Definately can tell the difference in performance.

I'm still curious if I have to rejet the carburator or have to do any other mods.

The next purchase is a new K&N filter, which I'm guessing it'll give it even more HP and performance.
What ya think?

No carb work required. It is plug and play.

The air intake will require a rejet.

great post, Kracker. Thanks!!

I'm gonna change the air intake first and see if it runs heavy or lean, if so, I'll mess with the carb.
the little that I rode it yesterday, it runs fine, but more likely will run heavy, we'll see.

thanks again.

question:

If the only mod that I have done to the engine is this new BRP CDI box, why do I foul spark plugs?

Do I have to rejet the carburator to keep this from happening?

The rhinos are lean from the factory.....It should not foul the plug. Check to make sure you air filter is not plugged
