What size are the shocks and will they work on a 3 over kit?

They are the Yamaha sport edition piggyback shocks off my friends brand new 07 Rhino. I replaced the crappy standard shocks on my '06 660 with these. I used them last season. They will fit a 3" MTS, but everything I've read says they should be revalved for your kit.
