i just got a ford diesel 6.0 and am wondering what you guys are using for programmers and what made you buy the one you got. my dad has a quadzilla and it has 3 settings and goes up to 125hp. he also gained 4mpg but it dont have the monitor like the edge does. he also has a duramax in his motorhome and bought a banks six gun and has had nothing but trouble with it.

It blew the head gaskets or warped the heads.....It was also burning oil so bad That I could go through 3 quarts in a weak. They repaced the whole engine and told me it would only have ran another 10000 miles....they kicked and screamed that i had to have a chip in it. I told them prove it or fix it.:punish: They fixed it and it has gave me NO problems since and I threw the chip in the trash

Duramax, been running a Diablo sport predator for 4 years, 120 hp setting all the time unless towing anything over 5000 lbs or heavy in the hills. I took it out when i towed my WW 30' due to getting too hot. I did replace most of the motor and a new turbo after 80k punishing miles. Still run the tuner after almost a year on the new motor. Also I stacked a van aaken 70 hp box on top for a year prior to the motor letting go. No more stacking. And yep, replaced trans at 50k for burnt 4-5 clutches.
Dont do the crime if you cant do the time they say.
I have heard countless horror stories about the 6.0 and would not run a Banks over rated system.
Good luck and know anytime you arboosting the pressure from your turbo above what factroy specs are you run the chance of trans or engine problems. I am a gambler though, what can i say!

a 150 extra hp is a lot. have you had any problems with it? why did you get the handheld instead of a plug in style?
Whoops missed this.

Nope no problems, I wanted just a programmer so that I could make changes but not have anything permanent in the case I need to take it in for service.

Plus that was the unit to get when I was doing research on what was best for the 6.0 liter so that I did not blow anything up.

I would, however, recommend gauges, exhaust temp for sure, boost, and tranny.

I would buy the EGR block off kit first and Bypass the EGR which I believe is the root of the problem for the 6.0. The Egr starts to crack and it will allow water to enter the cylinders and before you know it you blow the head gaskets out of it. So I would start there first...Then you can do some mild tuning with your programmers.

I run a race tune unless I am towing...granted my 2007 6.0 liter has the 6.4 liter heads is what I am told.

I would recomend the EGR eliminator kit to anyone with any year 6.0
and if you really wanna spend some money do the ARP head studs to.
The 6.0 runs awesome but has a few quirks which are all tied to that EGR cooler.
