I never took any pictures at Desert Dog, and had nothing against them until my integrity was abused by calling me a liar.
I have a very poor memory so bare with me.
When I approached Jay for a Rotax kit, my intentions were to get sponsored by him in exchange for my help in marketing his Rotax swaps to the Rhino community. That being the case I may have showed up with a camera. (I honestly don't remember) I almost always take a camera to whatever shop I visit for the first time. I had my 11 month old son in hand, and couldnt have possibly taken any pictures. Regardless, Jay turned down my sponsorship approach so I had zero interest in taking any pictures. Not to mention, he didnt have ANY Rhino related product in stock. He was waiting on an order from his manufacturer. There was nothing of interest to take pictures of.
After Jay turned me down for sponsorship I called back a few weeks later and placed an order. He had the equipment in stock, and "put my name on it" and then sold it to someone else because that transaction was worth more to him. I was told I would have to wait six weeks for the through shafts to be fabricated...........I didnt appreciate the poor business transaction and decided to go ahead and develop a kit and sell it. It's called business.
Warlock. Don't burn any bridges that you don't walk on. Jay has my number. If he want's to, he's welcome to call me, or post here.
ya thats why I pull a 40,000 dollar trailer and have another 30,000 in camera equipment. Today I saved a westfeilds shopping mall thousands by being able to remove an object instead of them jackhammering up and having to tear up the inside of a store.
PS if you guys know of rigid tools, they sell camera's for my type of work. Who do you think is in some of the training video's ??? ya that would be me..
I think if someone wants to improve on a item let them do it. Brian B posted way to early...
Max we all know your job is nothin but hot air:laugh:
What ever I can really care less anyhow.. Hopefully you can make a better cheaper mouse trap. I think Jay gets $3200 or so give or take a few bucks. If you can do it for less great.
You would hope it would get the prices down like it should but unless you have chinese slaves making this shit for nothing theres not a lot of room for profit to make it all worth while. I think Jay charged $3200 for parts and labor so I cant remember the hard parts break down...

I was more or less hoping that since the swap is becoming more popular that they will begin making the kits in bulk to keep production costs down... either way Brian is going to have to be quite a bit cheaper that Jay to take too many of the customers, Desert Dog already has made a name for themselves...
the exspensive part of the swap is the motor and electronics, the rest is cheap compared to that, then you still have to install it, some people just want to drop it off and pick it up when it's done. Still only 2 places to get that done and they each do the install different.
unless brp starts selling just motors, it ain't gonna get much cheaper.

yep thats what i was gonna say 3200 for all that work is a great price IMO there is a lot of man hours and fabrication in that price, these freakin motors are what needs to come down in price.
maybe brian can "not" take any pictures down at BRP and start building motors lol j/k:laugh:
